I actually really enjoyed keeping a blog this semester I wasn’t always good about remembering to post them each week but I really liked being able to just write about whatever and I found myself enjoying writing a lot more than I had before. So, I was a lot more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be I thought it was going to seem a lot more like a chore but getting to write about what I wanted to really had me enjoying this assignment. I guess the only issue I had with it was on WordPresses end and that was a lot of the time when I went to publish something it didn’t publish all the time and I would have to go back and either rewrite it or try publishing it again. I don’t think I will keep up with writing the blog posts just because of how busy my summers are its difficult for me to find time to get stuff done. But having said that I might post one every once in a while over the summer just because I did really enjoy doing it. So, if I do find some time so sit down and write a blog then I just might do that who knows. So, doing this blog was surprisingly fun and I was able to talk about sports in a new way for me which I enjoyed a lot which I think was a huge part of my enjoying it was being able to write about something that I love.
Jordans case as the GOAT
The debate for who the greatest basketball player of all time will never truly end as all people will have a different opinion. So, here is the case as to why Jordan is the greatest of all time. Starting with his accolades on the basketball court he is a NCAA champion, 6 time NBA champion, 10 time all NBA first team, 9 all defensive first team, 1 defensive player of the year, 5 time most valuable player, 10 time scoring champion, 6 time finals mvp, 3 times steals leader, and a rookie of the year. This is one of the most complete lists of accomplishments of all time and not many players even come close. There are some that due however so there needs to be more as to why he is the greatest of all time. Jordan was also one of the most competitive players ever with a compulsive need to win in everything he did. Jordan has also faced a total of 23 hall of famers in the playoffs and in the vast majority of these has beaten them including 9 of the 23 coming in the finals to which he has gone a perfect 6 for 6 with the 6 finals MVPs. Jordan has also won all 6 of these finals with only one of his teammates ever making an all star game while he played with them. This is something that a lot of the other players up for the debate can’t also claim as a majority of them played with more than one teammate who made an all star team while playing with them. Jordan also has one of the best career averages ever in the 5 major statistical categories with 30.1 points per game, 6.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.3 steals, and .8 blocks. All of this alone is incredibly hard for anyone to top and make the case for greatest of all time.
The Bulls Finally have made a front office change
After 20 years of dealing with the front office of John Paxon and Gar Forman the Chicago Bulls finally made a long overdue change to the front office with the hiring of Arturas Karnisovas from the Denver Nuggets to be the executive Vice President of basketball operations. This is a change that Bulls fans have been calling for a change to the front office for a long time. This has only become a stronger and stronger shout after multiple terrible decisions by Gar Pax and the last half decade of terrible teams. One of the big changes that Karnisovas will bring to the Bulls is trying to properly develop their young talent for the future. Also, with Karnisovas given full control to execute his vision of where the team should be headed. Karnisovas has wasted no time in making changes to try and turn the team around as quickly as possible with bringing in a salary cap expert J.J. Polk and the Nuggets player development head Pat Connelly. As well as firing general manager Gar Forman to bring in a general manager who can actually make competent decisions in who to move on the team. Karnisovas isn’t just some random guy that is being brought in to replace the bad guys in charge to appease the fans, Karnisovas is someone who has a proven track record in being very successful in managing a basketball team and turning it around quickly and successfully. Another, big thing with Karnisovas is that he grew up a Bulls fan so that should also be looked at as a positive because he knows what people expect from this franchise and will work extremely hard to make that happen.
The Texans Messed Up
The start of NFL free agency was wild with the announcement of DeAndre Hopkins and a fourth round pick being traded to the Cardinals for David Johnson a 2020 second round pick and a 2021 fourth round pick heading to the Texans. DeAndre Hopkins has been for numerous years considered one the best if not the best wide receiver in the NFl. In the last 2 seasons Hopkins has only dropped six total passes that have come his way and what makes this even crazier is that he caught over 100 passes each of the last 2 seasons putting his drop percentage under 3 percent in both years. This trade is incredible for the Cardinals because it gives last years number one pick Kyler Murray some much needed help at the wide-receiver position and a second great receiver who doesn’t drop passes that come his way. This also allows them to keep their first round draft pick for this year and pick up a much needed and skilled offensive lineman which again helps Kyler Murray to be more successful as a quarterback. In terms of what this means for the Texans its a terrible move for them because you have a young very talented quarterback who is becoming a star in the NFL and they just took his best. throwing target away from him to add a decent running back which they need but is nowhere near the star level of Hopkins. What this is showing Deshaun Watson is that the Texans are not trying to help him out as a quarterback and clearly don’t highly value their star players. So, overall this trade was awful for the Texans as the basically traded away DeAndre Hopkins for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Steph Curry came back from injury
Steph Curry is the star of the Golden state Warriors basketball team and recently came back from a broken hand. Curry broke his hand early into the season playing only 4 games before breaking his hand. During the time that Curry was injured the Warriors went from one of the best teams in the NBA to the worst team in the entire league. This Warriors team has seemed to lack energy and any hope to win games since Curry went down. The lack of energy that the team brings has shown in their record currently sitting at 15-49 the worst record in the NBA. Steph made his return on March 5th against the Toronto Raptors putting up 23 Pts 7 Ast 6 Reb. Not only are these great numbers for a first game back off an extended injury, but the team seemed to find that energy and belief that they were lacking without him. When he was on the court during this game the team was so much better than when he was off the court resting. Not only did the team really need him back to get some energy into the guys, but the basketball world was excited to see him back on the court. Lebron James tweeted out his excitement for Currys return mentioning that the game was missing him and the world wanted to see him back on the court was mentioned by others. Steph coach even said that there was a noticeable energy difference once Curry was back to the court.
Coby White Should Start
Coby White is a rookie in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls and in the last month has more than proven that he deserves a spot in the starting lineup. Coby White can fit easily into the starting lineup for Tomáš Satoransky who clearly looks out of place in the shooting guard position and that is exactly where Coby fits best into the starting lineup. Coby White is the only lottery pick of the 2019 draft not to start a single game this season which is surprising considering he was drafted to be the point guard of the future for the Bulls. Not only is he supposed to be the future point guard the Bulls are no where near making the playoffs so they should be playing their young guys more. Also, there are currently 7 injured players on the roster so there is absolutely no reason for Coby not to start based off just this. Another problem with Coby not starting when he is the future point guard is that he might not mesh with the other starters so it would be better to find that out now rather than later. Also in the moth of February he has shown with his play that he should definitely be starting scoring a crazy 66 points combined over 2 games. Also he averaged 20.1 points per game in the month which was the second highest among all rookies. Considering that there are only 30 games left in this NBA season, where’s the issue in starting Coby White.
Soccers new wonder kid
Borussia Dortmund completed the signing of 19-year-old Erling Braut Håland. Håland has quickly made a name for himself as one of the best young players in the world. Since making his first appearance for Dortmund on January 18th, 2020 against Augsburg scoring 3 goals in 23 minutes. Håland hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down either with 25 goals in the 2019-2020 season. This goal-scoring rate is incredible for even some of the best strikers in the world and Håland is doing it as a 19-year-old and he will only get better as the years go on. Håland’s been averaging a goal every 67.5 minutes meaning he averages 1.3 goals a game. Another major factor in the meteoric rise of Håland is the fact that he is in 4th place for the highest goal scorer across all European leagues. He also became the first player in champions league history to score 6 goals in his first 3 games. Håland also scored 9 goals in one game in the under 20’s World Cup. 9 goals in a single game is impressive anywhere but he did it on one of the biggest stages in the world. Whats makes his season more amazing is the fact that Håland is only 19 and is being considered one of the next greats to play the game of soccer. Håland has been destined for great things on the soccer field for a long time with his first professional game coming at the age of only 15. I’m excited to see what the future will hold for him, hopefully Bayern.
Bayern Munich Summer Transfer Targets
This summer Bayern Munich needs to be active in the transfer market if they want to stay competitive in both league and non-league play. Let’s take a look at positions of need and some of the players that we could. potentially sign in the summer. A position that we need to fill is center back due to 2 being injured leaving only 1 true center back currently in the team and he is getting older at 31 and the injuries are catching up with him as well. Signing a center back in the summer would solve a huge problem currently and for the future. Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig would be a great fit for Bayern turning 22 this summer. Upamecano fits the needs of Bayern being a young center back to replace Boateng in the future and also a good enough to play now contributing to reducing the lack of squad depth. Another major signing for Bayern in the summer would be Leroy Sane. Sane would be a huge signing for Bayern because he brings world-class ability on the field in a position we need players and he fits into the team’s style of play well. Also, Sane is only 24 so he can fill that starting spot for several years. Sane will be grabbing a lot of attention as a transfer target but I’m confident with Bayern in his home Germany, his friends playing here, and his friends try to convince him to come when competing for Germany.
Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bean Bryant was one of the best basketball players to ever play the game. Earlier today he was killed in a helicopter crash along with his daughter Gianna one of her teammates and a parent. Prayers out to all of them and their families. This is also incredibly sad day in the world of sports in losing one of the all time greats and one of the best competitors ever. Along with that he was also one of the smartest athletes despite not going to high school. Kobe speaks 3 languages fluently English, Spanish, and Italian and has learned some of other languages to talk trash, speaking to his competitiveness on the court. Kobe Bryant was originally drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th pick but was traded on draft night to the Lakers for Vlade Divac. Kobe Bryant then went on to win 5 championships, 1 MVP, 2 finals MVP’s, 2 times scoring leader, 11 time 1st team all NBA, and much more. Kobe just never quit unless he had too. For example Kobe tore his achilles and still shot both his free throws before walking off under his own power. After they injury he told his kids that everything is going to be okay and he came back after and still played well after a serious injury. Kobe was a player that could at will with the 81 against Toronto. Kobe was relentless and would stop at nothing to be the best that he could be. Kobe had such an impact to the game and was an inspiration to so many players and people.
What kind of writer am I
I wouldn’t consider myself to be a writer because I do not write in my free time. The only time I usually write is when I have an assignment for school. Despite not calling myself a writer I believe that I am a good writer when I do write for school. I think with these blog assignments each week I might start to write more on my own time or take more time to improve my writing ability. Still, I think that I have a lot of skills to improve in my writing and it could be stronger writing than my current ability. When I write I tend to write better when I’m free to write about what I want to because I can keep ideas moving together with more ease and it just tends to be better. When I’m given a certain topic my writing seems to falter more. I struggle with keeping tenses at times when I write and my word choice needs to be broader and more advanced than what I typically fall back on when I’m writing. But, with dedication and working on my writing, I believe that it will be improved quickly in this class. This english class has me excited to be writing these blogs each week and it seems to be more interesting than my typical highschool english class. This class doesn’t have me too worried about anything that we are doing. But, I am worried about managing the workload I have this semester.
