The Texans Messed Up

The start of NFL free agency was wild with the announcement of DeAndre Hopkins and a fourth round pick being traded to the Cardinals for David Johnson a 2020 second round pick and a 2021 fourth round pick heading to the Texans. DeAndre Hopkins has been for numerous years considered one the best if not the best wide receiver in the NFl. In the last 2 seasons Hopkins has only dropped six total passes that have come his way and what makes this even crazier is that he caught over 100 passes each of the last 2 seasons putting his drop percentage under 3 percent in both years. This trade is incredible for the Cardinals because it gives last years number one pick Kyler Murray some much needed help at the wide-receiver position and a second great receiver who doesn’t drop passes that come his way. This also allows them to keep their first round draft pick for this year and pick up a much needed and skilled offensive lineman which again helps Kyler Murray to be more successful as a quarterback. In terms of what this means for the Texans its a terrible move for them because you have a young very talented quarterback who is becoming a star in the NFL and they just took his best. throwing target away from him to add a decent running back which they need but is nowhere near the star level of Hopkins. What this is showing Deshaun Watson is that the Texans are not trying to help him out as a quarterback and clearly don’t highly value their star players. So, overall this trade was awful for the Texans as the basically traded away DeAndre Hopkins for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
